Check a name

Of an address you have lived at. A match there makes a result more likely to be you.

The register publishes only the month and year of birth, so that is all we ask for.

About the check

  • What it searches: Companies House’s public register of company officers, which lists directors, secretaries and LLP members of UK companies, including past appointments.
  • Why it matters: a company set up in your name can be used to borrow money or defraud others, and you may not find out until someone comes looking for you.
  • What we keep: nothing. We send only the name to Companies House, compare the month and year of birth and postcode ourselves, and store neither what you enter nor the results. See the privacy notice.
  • Fair use: check yourself, or someone you have a lawful reason to check, and not in bulk. See the terms of use.
